Wayne Results From Fort Calhoun Cross Country Invite

FORT CALHOUN – With only a few invites remaining on the schedule prior to conference competition in a couple weeks, the Wayne High girls and boys cross country team went back to work Thursday.

From Fort Atkinson State Historical Park in Fort Calhoun, WHS competed in the Fort Calhoun Invite.

The Blue Devil girls placed fourth with 45 points while the Wayne High boys took fourth with 64 points. The boys JV team won their division with 32 points.

Sophomore Laura Haseman led the Wayne High varsity girls with a seventh-place finish at 21:56 while freshman Frantzdie Barner came in ninth in a time of 22:22. Freshman Maya Spahr won the JV race in a time of 37:04. There were 31 varsity runners on the 5K course.

Other girls results came from senior Andi Belt (18th – 24:25); sophomore Erin Avery (26th – 27:11), freshman Reagan Maas (27th – 27:53) and junior Maria Vergara (31st – 30:45).

 

The Blue Devil boys were led by a seventh place finish from Jesus Zavala in a time of 18:15. Sophomore Calvin Starzl placed runner-up in the JV race (22:43) followed by fellow sophomore Easton Blecke in fifth during a time of 23:20. There were 51 runners in each division on the 5K course.

Other varsity results came from senior Christopher Woerdemann (23rd – 19:49); sophomore Ethan McCraney (36th – 20:57); senior Treyton Blecke (40th – 21:13); freshman Alex Frank (41st – 21:14); freshman Mason Ley (43rd – 21:17) and senior Liam Spieker (77th – 22:24).

JV results: sophomore Braydn McCorkindale (ninth – 23:36); senior Sean Ashoff (16th – 24:24); senior Raul Palma (18th – 24:38); junior Carter Hasemann (36th – 26:25); senior Nathan Kufner (44th – 27:34); junior Kaden Hopkins (45th – 27:57);

 

In the Junior High races, the Wayne girls won their division with 32 points as the Wayne Jr. High boys came in fifth with 72 points.

Top 10 girls finishers were eighth-grader Kyla Krusemark (fifth – 11:17); seventh-grader Reagan McGuire (eighth – 11:38) and eighth grader Jala Krusemark (10th – 11:48). There were 52 runners on the approximately 3K course.

Other results saw seventh grader Haley Kramer (12th – 11:59); seventh grader Lilyan Hurner (13th – 12:01); eighth grader Amelia Legler (14th – 12:19); eighth grader Olivia Hanson (15th – 12:19); seventh grader Kennasyn Blecke (23rd – 13:03); seventh grader Josie Ley (29th – 13:55); seventh grader Kayleigh Graybeal (31st – 14:01); eighth grader Yama Kantai (32nd – 14:14); seventh grader Megan Magnuson (37th – 14:38); seventh grader Sharon Vasquez (46th – 16:45) and seventh grader Sophia Spieker (47th – 17:36).

 

Eighth grader Gavin Redden won the Junior High boys race out of 52 competitors on the approximately 2,400-meter course in a time of 10:01 while seventh grader Drew Miller came in fifth (10:22).

Other Wayne Junior High boys results came from eighth grader Andrew Brink (37th – 13:15); seventh grader Boden Dobbins (40th – 14:20); seventh grader Carlyle Young (47th – 16:52); seventh grader Lucas Allemann (48th – 17:18); seventh grader Jacob Russman (49th – 17:23) and eighth grader Dean Young (52nd – 18:59).

 

The Wayne High girls and boys cross country team will next send runners to the Nebraska-Kearney Invite on Monday, September 28 starting at 3 p.m.
