Wayne Post 43 Splits Rescheduled Home Doubleheader With Pierce, On The Road Wednesday

WAYNE – A busy week of Ralph Bishop League American Legion baseball games continued for Wayne Post 43 on Tuesday.

After hosting Crofton on Monday, Post 43 was right back at Hank Overin Field hosting a rescheduled game with Pierce in town for a Jr/Sr doubleheader.

The Wayne Post 43 Seniors suffered a 14-4 loss falling to 3-7 on the season while the Post 43 Juniors won 4-1 to improve to 12-0.

During the Seniors outing, James Dorcey and Justin Sherman both singled and drove in a run while Gavin Redden singled and scored. Calvin Ankeny, Devin Anderson, Cooper Zara and Toby Braun all singled; Aiden Liston accounted for a RBI as single runs came from Kaden Keller, Calvin Starzl and Jacob Anderson.

Zara (60 pitches) suffered the loss in two and a third innings allowing eight runs (six earned) off two hits while striking out two batters and walking four. Justin Sherman (63) worked two and two-thirds allowing six runs off one hit while striking out two batters and walking three.

During Juniors game, Calvin Ankeny doubled and drove in a run; Wyatt Heikes doubled and scored while Kaleb Moormeier singled twice, drove in a run and scored. Devin Anderson singled, drove in a run and scored; Jase Dean singled as Gavin Redden scored.

Heikes (102 pitches) picked up the complete game victory in seven innings allowing an earned run off two hits while striking out 12 batters and walking four.

The Wayne Post 43 Juniors and Seniors are right back on the road on Wednesday at Columbus Lakeview at 5:30/8 p.m. before also visiting West Point on Friday.
