WAYNE – After having a scheduled Senior Legion doubleheader be shortened to one, the Wayne Post 43 Seniors entertained Creighton Monday evening.
From Hank Overin Field in Wayne, Post 43 picked up their fourth straight win after the team secured a 7-3 home victory over Creighton.
Post 43 took the early lead with a run in the first before three scoreless innings. Wayne then brought in two runs during the fifth and scored four more in the sixth to lead 7-0. Creighton did score three runs in the top of the seventh but Wayne held on for the 7-3 victory.
Hagan Miller recorded two singles, a double, two RBI and two runs scored while Gunnar Jorgensen singled, doubled and drove in four runs for Wayne. Tyrus Eischeid and Jacob Kneifl both singled and scored; Brock Hopkins singled; Trevor DeBoer scored; Reid Korth accounted for a RBI and Blake Bartos scored twice.
Kneifl picked up the win in six innings allowing one hit while striking out eight batters. Eischeid worked the final inning allowing three runs (two earned) off one hit while walking four batters.
