PIERCE – Following a pair of home victories earlier this week, the Wayne Post 43 Junior and Senior American Legion baseball teams took to the road for more Ralph Bishop League regular season competition.
Post 43 visited Pierce Wednesday night.
In the Seniors game, Wayne defeated Pierce, 11-3 while the Pierce Juniors shutout Wayne, 7-0.
From the Seniors outing, Wayne improved to 4-0 but trailed after giving up one run in the first. Post 43 then scored three runs in the second and after two scoreless innings, outscored Pierce, 2-1 in the fifth. Up 5-2, the Wayne Seniors outscored Pierce, 6-1 in the seventh to win 11-3.
Jacob Kneifl recorded a pair of extra base hits being a double and triple to go along with a run scored while Blake Bartos singled twice, doubled, scored and drove in four runs.
Jacob Anderson singled twice and scored twice, Brock Hopkins accounted for a RBI and two runs scored, Max Miller scored twice as James Dorcey joined Justin Sherman and Toby Braun with one run each.
Kneifl (103 pitches) secured the win in six and a third innings allowing three runs (one earned) off four hits while striking out eight batters and walking one. Dorcey recorded the final two outs in three pitches.

During the Juniors game, Wayne fell to 1-3 after getting down early against Pierce. The Pierce Juniors scored a run in the first, three in the second, one in the third and one more run in the fourth to lead 6-0. Pierce scored once more in the sixth to win 7-0.
Singles came from Ryan Karsky and Aiden Liston for Post 43.
Wyatt Heikes (76 pitches) suffered the loss in four innings allowing six earned runs off eight hits while walking three batters. Cooper Zara (25 pitches) worked the final two innings allowing an earned run off one hit while striking out and walking one batter each.

Wakefield Jr/Sr at Hartington:
Following a pair of road losses on Tuesday at Pierce, the Wakefield Post 81 Juniors and Seniors were back on the road Wednesday evening. The Post 81 Juniors suffered a 10-1 loss to Hartington while the Hartington Seniors won 9-5 over Wakefield. The Wakefield Juniors have dropped back-to-back and are now 2-2 while the Post 81 Seniors fell to 0-4.
The Post 81 Juniors and Seniors of Wakefield will next host Crofton on Monday, June 7 at 5:30/8 p.m.
