Wayne Post 43 Seniors Begin Area 5 Tournament Friday In Pierce

PIERCE – After being off for over three weeks since the Ralph Bishop League Tournament, the Wayne Post 43 Senior American Legion baseball team will open postseason play this weekend.

From Pierce, the Wayne Seniors will compete in the Class B Area 5 Tournament which will get underway on Friday, July 22 and last through Tuesday, July 26.

The Wayne Post 43 Seniors are 5-10 overall and last played on June 26 dropping an 8-2 first round RBL tournament game.

Post 43 earned the #7 seed and will open with #2 West Point at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Earlier this season on June 17, West Point won 7-6 over the Wayne Seniors in West Point thanks to a three-run home half of the seventh.

#1 Columbus Lakeview will receive a first round bye into Saturday at 7 p.m. awaiting the winner of either #4 Albion or the host #5 Pierce who play at 7 p.m. Friday night.

The Wayne/West Point winner will match-up against the winner of either #3 O’Neill or #6 Stanton who play at 2 p.m. Friday night. The winner’s bracket game would be set for 4:30 p.m. Saturday.

The loser of Albion/Pierce will earn a bye into Sunday while the loser of O’Neill/Stanton and Wayne/West Point will play at 2 p.m. on Saturday during an elimination game.

The 2022 Class B Senior Legion State Tournament will be hosted by Broken Bow from Saturday, July 30 – Wednesday, August 3.
