Wayne Post 43 Juniors To Put Undefeated Record To The Test At State

WAYNE – After winning the 2018 Class B Junior American Legion baseball tournament in Columbus, the Wayne Post 43 baseball program is back in the state tournament.

From Sam Crawford Field in Wahoo, the Wayne Post 43 Juniors qualified for four consecutive state tournaments (2015-2018) and recently won the Area 5 Tournament.

Post 43 is 24-0 on the season winning 4-1 over Albion on Tuesday in Wayne.

In Class B Junior Legion state tournament baseball, Wayne Post 43 is a three-time champion (2018/1966/1963) and two-time runner-up (2006/1978).

Wayne’s opponent will be Plattsmouth Post 56 on Saturday, July 16 at 10 a.m. Plattsmouth is 19-5 and were crowned Area 2 champion after defeating Springfield, 11-9.

The Wayne/Plattsmouth winner will face the winner or loser of Area 4 Champion Sutton Post 61 (22-4) or Area 7 Champion Alliance Post 7 (26-8) who play at 1 p.m. on Saturday. Sunday’s loser’s bracket game is scheduled for 10 a.m. and winner’s bracket at 4 p.m.

The other half of the bracket will feature Area 3 runner-up Lincoln Christian Post 3 (15-13-1) vs. Area 1 Champion Hickman Post 105 (26-12-1) at 4 p.m. followed by Area 6 Champion Broken Bow Post 126 (22-5) vs. the host and Area 3 Champion Wahoo Post 82 (20-5) at 7 p.m.
