WAYNE – A perfect regular season and league tournament record was put the test following a week off from competition.
From Hank Overin Field in Wayne, the Wayne Post 43 Juniors welcomed in five other teams during the Class B Area 5 American Legion baseball tournament.
Closing out night one favored #1 Wayne Post 43 (21-0) over #6 Tekamah-Herman, 6-0.
During the victory for Post 43, Aiden Liston singled, doubled, drove in a run and scored while Kaleb Moormeier tripled and drove in a run.
Gavin Redden singled twice, drove in a run and scored; Devin Anderson and Ryan Karsky both accounted for a RBI and run scored as Wyatt Heikes and Will Leseberg both scored.
Moormeier (79) picked up the victory in five and two-thirds of scoreless action allowing one hit while striking out 11 batters. Alex Rodriguez (22) closed out the final inning and a third striking out and walking one batter each.

Other day one results saw #2 West Point win 9-1 over #5 O’Neill while #4 Alboin defeated #3 Pierce, 4-1
Saturday’s second round will open with an elimination game between Tekamah-Herman vs. O’Neill at noon followed by undefeated teams of West Point vs. Albion in the winners bracket at 2:30 p.m. and conclude with 1-0 Wayne vs. 0-1 Pierce at 5 p.m.
Wayne Post 43 has defeated Pierce 4-1 on June 14 and also won 4-1 on June 27.
