Wayne Post 43 Juniors Score Early In First Round League Tourney Victory

 WAYNE – Ralph Bishop League Tourney play began Monday evening at three different locations with the bottom 10 teams in action.

From Hank Overin Field in Wayne, #4 Post 43 hosted #13 Wisner-Pilger/Dodge-Howells Monday night.

Wayne scored two runs to begin the game, six more in the third and one run in the fourth to win 9-0. Post 43 is now 17-4 on the season.

Jacob Kneifl singled and drove in three runs while Max Miller singled, doubled and drove in two runs for Wayne. Reid Korth singled and drove in a run; Blake Bartos and Brock Hopkins both singled as Gunner Jorgensen and Brandon Bartos each accounted for a RBI.

Jacob Kneifl picked up the win allowing no runs, no hits and struck out seven batters.

Another game in Wayne saw #9 Wakefield Post 81 top #8 Pierce 8-5.

Other games were held in Scribner with #10 Battle Creek holding off #7 Tekamah-Herman (13-10) and #5 Hooper-Scribner defeating #12 Laurel (19-2) while #6 Arlington won over #11 Ponca (7-1) in Arlington.

 

Next Junior Legion games will be on Wednesday, July 3 in West Point and Pender. Games in Pender will feature #4 Wayne vs. #5 Hooper/Scribner at 5:30 p.m. followed by #2 Pender vs. #10 Battle Creek at 8 p.m. while games in West Point will showcase #1 Columbus Lakeview vs. #9 Wakefield Post 81 at 5:30 p.m. followed by #3 West Point vs. #6 Arlington at 8 p.m.

Senior legion games will begin this evening with a doubleheader in Pierce featuring #6 Ponca (6-4) vs. #11 Laurel (0-7) at 5:30 p.m. with the winner to face #3 Arlington (5-2) Friday at 5:30 p.m. in Wakefield and #7 Pierce (5-4) vs. #10 Wisner-Pilger/Howells-Dodge (1-8) at 8 p.m. Tuesday with the winner to face #2 Wakefield/Wayne Post 81 (7-2) in Wakefield on Friday at 8 p.m.

#8 Tekamah-Herman (2-7) will also host #9 Hooper/Scribner (2-7) at 7 p.m. Tuesday with the winner to face #1 Pender (9-1) at 8 p.m. in Pender Friday. #4 West Point (6-3) will face #5 Columbus Lakeview (5-3) at 5:30 p.m. in Pender Friday.
