WAYNE – The Wayne Post 43 Juniors closed out three straight games while the Post 43 Seniors ended back-to-back games Thursday night hosting Crofton.
From Hank Overin Field in Wayne, the Post 43 American Legion baseball teams concluded their home games as they still have two road outings and a Senior Legion Tourney on the schedule.
The Wayne Juniors took control early and won 8-4 improving to 6-7 while the Post 43 Seniors, now 17-1, fought off Crofton holding on for the 10-7 win.
In the Juniors game, Wayne scored once in the first before adding five more runs in the second to lead 6-0. Crofton poured in three runs during the third as Post 43 outscored Crofton 2-1 in the sixth to win 8-4.
Toby Braun singled, doubled, drove in three runs and scored twice while Jacob Anderson tripled, drove in two runs and scored for Wayne. Brooks Kneifl doubled and drove in two runs; James Dorcey singled; Calvin Starzl scored twice as Justin Sherman, Wyatt Heikes and Aiden Liston all scored.
Dorcey picked up the win in five innings allowing three runs (two earned) off two hits while striking out six batters and walking five. Toby Braun worked the final two innings allowing one run off three hits while striking out one batter and walking one.

From the Seniors game, Wayne jumped ahead early with a 4-1 lead in the first before Crofton pulled within a run following a two-run third. Wayne outscored Crofton 3-2 in both the fourth and fifth innings before holding onto the 10-7 victory.
Gunnar Jorgensen singled twice, drove in three runs and scored once while Hagan Miller doubled and scored three times for Wayne. Josh Lutt singled twice and drove in a run; Blake Bartos singled and scored twice; Jacob Kneifl singled; Trevor DeBoer added a RBI and three runs scored; Brock Hopkins recorded two RBI as Reid Korth accounted for a RBI and run scored.
Tyrus Eischeid picked up the win in two innings of relief allowing two runs off one hit while striking out three batters and walking three. Reid Korth closed out the final inning striking out one batter for the save. Josh Lutt started the opening four innings allowing five runs off six hits while striking out six batters and walking three.

Both the Wayne Post 43 Juniors and Seniors will be off until a Monday night road game at O’Neill at 5:30/8 p.m. Wayne will then visit Wakefield for a doubleheader on Tuesday, July 28 also at 5:30/8 p.m. The game will be carried on Big Red Country ‘KTCH’ 104.9 and waynedailynews.com with pregame coverage set for 5:10 p.m.
