Wayne Post 43 Concludes Regular Season With Two Wins

PENDER – With the Ralph Bishop League Tournament beginning this weekend, both the Wayne Post 43 Juniors and Seniors concluded their regular season Wednesday evening on the road.

From Dave Nitzschke Field in Pender, Post 43 visited Pender.

The Wayne Post 43 Seniors shutout Pender, 8-0 to improve to 5-9 while the Post 43 Juniors finished off a perfect season going 16-0 with a 7-2 victory over Pender.

During the Seniors victory, Justin Sherman singled twice and scored three runs; Gavin Redden singled twice and scored as Wyatt Heikes doubled and scored. Kaleb Moormeier and Aiden Liston both singled and scored; James Dorcey and Toby Braun both singled and drove in a run; Cooper Zara accounted for a RBI as Calvin Starzl scored.

Dorcey (69) picked up the complete game victory in five scoreless innings allowing six hits while striking out six batters.

In the Juniors win, Jase Dean singled, doubled, drove in a run and scored; Gavin Redden singled, doubled and drove in two runs as Kaleb Moormeier singled and doubled. Devin Anderson singled and drove in a run; Wyatt Heikes singled and scored; Kaden Keller singled as Zach McManigal, Calvin Ankeny, Will Leseberg, Keegan Rubendall and Kasen York all scored.

Heikes (74) picked up the win in five scoreless innings allowing two hits while striking out six batters and walking three. Aiden Liston (33) worked the final inning and two-thirds allowing two earned runs off four hits while striking out two batters and walking one.

The Wayne Post 43 Juniors will open the Ralph Bishop League Tournament on Saturday, June 25 as the #1 seed in the North Division hosting #8 Crofton at 3:30 p.m. from Hank Overin Field in Wayne.

Junior Division Bracket: not official 2022 RBL Standings_Tournament_Schedule

With two Junior legion games still on the Ralph Bishop League Schedule for tonight being a South Division outing between Columbus Lakeview and West Point as well as a North Division game with Pierce at Wakefield (Alrington defeated Wakefield Juniors, 10-1 on Wednesday), the Junior Bracket will be officially updated tomorrow.

 

The Wayne Post 43 Seniors will open the RBL Tourney on Sunday, June 26 as the #7 seed in the North Division in South Sioux City against #2 SSC at noon.

 

With one more South Division game scheduled for this evening between Columbus Lakeview and West Point, the South Division bracket will be finalized on Friday.

South Sioux City (North Division): #2 South Sioux City vs. #7 Wayne at noon; #3 Crofton vs. #6 Pierce at 2:30 p.m. and #4 Hartington vs. #5 Ponca at 5 p.m.

#1 Battle Creek earns first round bye to Tuesday June 28 at 8 p.m. and awaits the Hartington/Ponca winner. The SSC/Wayne and Crofton/Pierce winners will play each other at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday in Battle Creek.

The highest remaining seed will host the semifinal game on Friday, July 1 at 7 p.m. with the winner advancing to the RBL Senior championship game at 7:30 p.m. in West Point on Saturday, July 2 while the loser will play at 2:30 p.m. also in West Point on July 2 for the consolation round.
