Wayne Pony Baseball Suffers One-Run Defeat

OAKLAND – The Wayne Pony youth baseball team was back on the road for a weekend league outing.

Wayne visited Oakland and dropped their first game of the summer by the score of 5-4. Wayne is now 4-1 on the season.

Jamison Meyer paced Wayne at the plate going 2-for-3 while Kaleb Moormeier added a 1-for-4 performance with a double. Gavin Redden, Calvin Ankeny and Alex Frank all singled.

Moormeier started the game going three and two-thirds allowing two runs off two hits while striking out four batters and walking three. Kaden Keller retired one batter via strike out before Devin Anderson worked two and a third innings allowing three runs off one hit while striking out two batters and walking one. Redden came in for the final two-thirds allowing one hit while striking out one batter.

The Wayne Ponies will next host the West Point Twins on Wednesday, July 8 at 7 p.m. before traveling to Howells-Dodge on Sunday, July 12.
