Wayne Ponies Shutout Pierce For Second Straight Win

WAYNE – The Wayne Pony baseball team took part in a home game with Pierce Wednesday evening.

From the Summer sports Complex, the Wayne ponies took care of business in five innings winning 13-0. Wayne improves to 2-0 on the season.

Kaleb Moormeier went 2-for-2 at the plate with a triple and walk while Jase Dean added a 2-for-3 performance. Dom Dominguez and Devin Anderson both went 1-for-3 with a double as Gavin Redden, Alex Frank and Calvin Ankeny all singled.

Redden and Devin Anderson combined for the no-hit shutout striking out 12 of the 15 outs. Redden opened the first three innings striking out nine batters and walking one while Anderson closed out the final two innings striking out and walking three batters.

The Wayne Pony baseball team will next host Pender on Sunday, June 28 at 7 p.m. before traveling to Wakefield on Wednesday, July 1.
