Wayne Ponies Secure Road Victory, Two Games Remain On Summer Schedule

HOWELLS/DODGE – The Wayne Pony youth baseball team took back to the road Sunday evening for an outing with Howells-Dodge.

Wayne topped Howells-Dodge 8-5 improving to 6-1 on the season.

Kaleb Moormeier opened the game with a first pitch homerun while also singling later in the game. Dom Dominguez doubled going 3-for-3 while Gavin Redden went 2-for-3 with a walk. Kaden Keller, Jase Dean and Alex Frank all singled.

Dean opened the first three innings allowing five runs off four hits while striking out three batters and walking two. Moormeier worked the final four innings of shutout baseball off two hits while striking out six batters and walking two.

The Wayne Ponies will next visit Pierce on Wednesday, July 15 at 7 p.m. and close out their regular season at Pender on Sunday, July 19 at 7 p.m. The game with Ponca on Thursday, July 16 has been canceled.
