WAKEFIELD – Midweek youth baseball took to the diamond for a northeast Nebraska Pony showdown.
From Graves Park in Wakefield, Wayne visited Wakefield.
Wayne secured their fourth straight win (4-0) thanks to a 9-2 road win. Wayne scored all of their runs in the opening two innings.
Gavin Redden went 2-for-4 at the plate with a home run in the opening inning. Dom Dominguez went 2-for-3 with a double; Alex Frank was 2-for-4 while Kaleb Moormeier and Devin Anderson both went 1-for-4 with a double. Kaden Keller tallied a 1-for-3 performance with a double as Jase Dean and Ryan Karsky both singled.
Devin Anderson picked up the win in three innings striking out six batters and walking three. Kaden Keller worked the final four innings allowing two runs off one hit while striking out eight batters and walking three.
Wakefield Pony leaders came from Jesse Lundahl who doubled and drove in two runs while Ryan Anderson went 1-for-3.
Cade Johnson pitched two innings while Jonathon Birkley added another inning of work before Ryan Anderson came on in relief and didn’t allow a run in five innings.
The Wayne Pony baseball team will next be in action on Sunday, July 5 at Oakland at 7 p.m. before hosting the West Point Twins on Wednesday, July 8.
