WAYNE – After postponing a golf outing earlier in the day Tuesday, the weather improved enough to open the first high school competition of the year on the Wayne County Club.
Following a Varsity Invite Monday, the Wayne Junior Varsity team hosted Oakland-Craig for a dual. Wisner-Pilger was previously scheduled to attend.
Wayne JV edged Oakland-Craig (206-207).
The top two golfers came from Oakland-Craig being Mike Maline and Carson Thomsen both shooting a 47 on the nine-hole course. Wayne’s top JV golfer was Drew Sharpe with a 48.
The Wayne High boys golf team will be off until Thursday, April 11 during the Laurel-Concord-Coleridge Invite. Participating teams joining Wayne and the host LCC include Madison, Pierce, Wakefield, Crofton, Homer, Elkhorn Valley, Randolph, Hartington/Newcastle, Hartington Cedar Catholic and Tekamah-Herman.
