WAYNE – With postseason American Legion baseball gearing up this weekend in the Juniors Division, both the Wayne Post 43 Juniors and Seniors closed out their regular season.
From Hank Overin Field in Wayne, Post 43 welcomed in Wisner-Pilger/Dodge-Howells Wednesday evening.
The Wayne Seniors won 11-3 while the Post 43 Juniors defeated Wisner, 10-4.
During the Seniors outing, Wisner-Pilger/Dodge-Howells took the early 1-0 lead in the top of the third before Wayne added nine runs in the home half of the third. Both teams scored two runs in the fourth as Post 43 held on for the 11-3 victory. The Wayne Seniors improved to 13-4 on the season.
Jacob Anderson singled, doubled, drove in three runs and scored twice; Jacob Kneifl singled, doubled, drove in two runs and scored twice as James Dorcey singled, tripled, drove in a run and scored twice. Blake Bartos and Justin Sherman both singled, drove in a run and scored; Toby Braun singled and scored; Max Miller singled as Reid Korth and Brock Hopkins each accounted for a run scored.
Bartos (86 pitches) secured the complete game win in five innings allowing three runs (one earned) off three hits while striking out six batters and walking four.

From the Juniors game, Wisner-Pilger/Dodge-Howells scored twice in the first inning and outscored Post 43, 2-1 in the second. Down 4-1, Wayne cut into the deficit with two runs in the third to trail 4-3. Following back-to-back scoreless innings, the Wayne Juniors poured in seven runs during the sixth to win 10-4. Post 43 ended their regular season at 9-7.
Devin Anderson singled, doubled, drove in a run and scored twice as James Dorcey singled, doubled and scored twice. Ryan Karsky singled, drove in a run and scored twice; Jase Dean singled and drove in two runs; Wyatt Heikes singled and scored as single runs came from Aiden Liston, Jack Bruckner and Zach McManigal.
Anderson (19 pitches) secured the win in the final inning striking out and walking one batter each. Heikes (52 pitches) started the opening two innings allowing four runs (three earned) off four hits while striking out three batters and walking one. Liston (37 pitches) worked three innings of relief allowing one hit while striking out three batters and walking one.

The Wayne Post 43 Juniors earned the #5 seed and will play #4 Plainview in the Class B Area 5 Junior Tournament hosted by Albion. First pitch is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. on Friday, July 9.
The Wayne Post 43 Seniors will be off until the Class B Area 5 Tournament hosted by Wayne from Friday, July 23 – Wednesday, July 28.
