Wayne Juniors 10-Run Battle Creek, Wakefield Juniors And Wakefield/Wayne Seniors Fall On Road

BATTLE CREEK – The Wayne Post 43 Juniors closed out their regular season league schedule Friday night.

Wayne visited Battle Creek and jumped ahead 2-1 in the first. Post 43 then tallied three runs in the second and four more in the third to lead 9-1. Wayne also outscored Battle Creek 3-1 in the fifth to win 12-2. The Wayne Jrs are now 15-4 overall and 9-3 in Ralph Bishop League play with the league standings to be released this weekend and tournament to begin Monday.

Jacob Kneifl recorded a single, double and two RBI while Toby Braun singled twice and drove in a run for Wayne. Reid Korth, Gunnar Jorgensen and Brock Hopkins all singled and drove in two runs; Brandon Bartos singled and drove in a run; Blake Bartos singled as Brooks Kneifl accounted for a RBI.

Brooks Kneifl picked up the complete game win in five innings allowing two runs (one earned) off six hits while striking out three batters and walking one.

The Wayne Post 43 Juniors will be joined by the Wakefield/Wayne Post 81 Srs from Hank Overin Field today hosting Creighton. The Juniors game is scheduled for 4 p.m. followed by the Srs around 6:30 p.m.

Wayne will await their opponent during the Ralph Bishop League Tournament July 1-7.

 

 

The Wakefield Post Jrs and Wakefield/Wayne Post 81 Srs were also in action Friday night in Columbus. In the Jrs game, Lakeview won over Wakefield 5-3 while the Lakeview Srs held off Wakefield/Wayne Post 81, 12-11. The Jrs fell to 4-8 overall/RBL while the Srs dropped to 12-5 (7-2 RBL).
