NORFOLK – The junior high basketball season came to an end for the Wayne girls over the weekend.
From the Norfolk Catholic Tourney on Saturday, both the Wayne Blue and Wayne Black teams were in action.
Wayne Blue suffered a first round loss to Boone Central (28-23) as Frantzdie Barner paced the team in scoring with 11 points and Gabby Judd added seven rebounds. Wayne Blue then lost to the host, Norfolk Catholic (34-15).
Wayne Black opened with a loss to Boone Central (25-12) before falling to Norfolk Catholic (51-25). Brooklyn Kruse paced Wayne Black with 12 points as Talia Meyer tacked on six rebounds.
The Wayne Junior High boys basketball season will open on Thursday, January 10 with a road contest at Battle Creek. The first home game will then be on Saturday, January 12 with Pierce coming to town.
