Wayne Junior High Girls Basketball Teams Finish 2021 Season With Championship, Runner-Up Finish

WAYNE – A weekend tournament recently closed out the Junior High girls basketball schedule in Wayne.

From Norfolk Catholic High School, Wayne joined Boone Central and Pierce along with the host Norfolk Catholic this past Saturday.

Wayne A Junior High girls were crowned champions of the season-ending tournament. Wayne defeated Pierce 42-7 in the opening round before holding off Boone Central, 30-20. The Wayne A JH girls team finished the season 13-0.

In the victory over Pierce, Reagan McGuire finished with 12 points while six-point scoring came from Haley Kramer, Mackenzie Nissen and Nyla Bolles. Jordyn Gamble added five points.

From the championship win against Boone Central, Kramer scored 16 points as both McGuire and Gamble had five points.

The Wayne B Junior High girls basketball team closed out their season at 9-2 with a runner-up finish. Wayne defeated Pierce, 32-18 but lost to Boone Central, 30-15.

During the first game, Addison Frank scored 10 points. Lilyan Hurner added seven points and Mallory Redden poured in five points.

In the loss to Boone Central in the finals, Redden was a top scorer with five points.

The Wayne Junior High boys basketball schedule will begin on Thursday, January 13 hosting Battle Creek from the elementary school.
