PIERCE – With varsity runners off until Thursday, junior high cross country competitors took part in a week-day meet Tuesday.
From the Pierce Community Golf Course, Pierce hosted a Junior High Cross Country Invite.
The Blue Devil girls team won their division with 19 points as the Wayne Junior High boys placed sixth with 100 points.
Five of the top 10 Junior High girl competitors were from Wayne led by eighth-grader Kyla Krusemark in third (14:10); eighth-grader Jala Krusemark in fourth (14:16); seventh-grader Reagan McGuire (fifth – 14:17); seventh-grader Haley Kramer (seventh – 14:28) and seventh-grader Lilyan Hurner (ninth – 14:45).
Other JH girls results came from eighth-grader Olivia Hanson (12th – 15:09); eighth-grader Amelia Legler (13th – 15:19); eighth-grader Norah Armstrong (14th – 15:26); seventh-grader Kennasyn Blecke (18th – 15:49); eighth-grader Yama Kantai (27th – 16:58); seventh-grader Josie Ley (33rd – 17:58); seventh-grader Megan Magnuson (34th – 18:01); seventh-grader Kayleigh Graybeal (38th – 18:37); seventh-grader Sharon Vasquez (44th – 19:58) and seventh-grader Sophia Spieker (49th – 22:20).
The Blue Devil Junior High Boys were led by a third place finish from seventh-grader Drew Miller in a time of 12:38.
Other boys times saw eighth-grader Andrew Brink (42nd – 16:35); seventh-grader Boden Dobbins (46th – 17:33); seventh-grader Lucas Allemann (54th – 20:05); seventh-grader Jacob Russman (57th – 21:09) and seventh-grader Carlyle Young (58th – 21:42).
Junior High boys who were not in competition included eighth-graders Gavin Redden (illness) and Dean Young.
The Wayne Junior High team will join the varsity runners on Thursday, October 1 during the Aquinas Catholic Invite in David City. The races will start around 4:30 p.m.
