HARTINGTON – A pair of junior high boys basketball games were made up over the weekend featuring Wayne and Hartington Cedar Catholic.
Rescheduled from Saturday, January 19, Wayne visited HCC on the junior-high level this past Saturday.
In the seventh-grade game, Hartington Cedar Catholic edged Wayne 40-34.
Drue Davis paced Wayne in scoring with 12 points, Devin Anderson added seven points and Kaden Hunt finished with five points. Ryan Karsky (four) as Sam Junck, Jace Piper and Lapiro Kantai all finished with two points.
From the eighth-grade contest, Wayne took a 17-10 first quarter lead before defense took over the final three quarters. Wayne held off HCC 38-28 for the win.
Double figure scorers for Wayne came from Daniel Judd with 14 points and Sedjro Agoumba added 11 points while Brooks Kneifl finished with nine points. Andrew Jones (three) and Carter Junck (one) closed out the scoring.
The Wayne Junior High boys will close out their regular season hosting Norfolk Catholic on Thursday, February 7 at 6:15 p.m. from the elementary school. Wayne will then host HCC, Howells-Dodge and LCC during a season ending tournament in Wayne this Saturday starting at 9 a.m.
