Wayne Jrs Use A Pair Of Nine-Run Innings In Road Victory

LAUREL – The Wayne Post 43 Junior American Legion baseball team is in the middle of a three-game road stretch when they took to the road Wednesday night.

With the Ralph Bishop League bracket to be seeded this Saturday, Wayne visited Laurel.

Post 43 started off strong with three runs in the first and another nine in the second to lead 12-0. Following a scoreless third, Wayne tallied nine more runs in the fourth to win 21-10. Wayne Post 43 improves to 14-4 on the season.

Blake Bartos recorded a single, two doubles and drove in two runs while Max Miller doubled and drove in three runs for Wayne. Brock Hopkins, Gunnar Jorgensen, Jacob Anderson and Brandon Bartos all singled and drove in a run. Toby Braun singled twice and drove in a run; Brooks Kneifl tacked on two RBI as Jacob Kneifl and Mike Leatherdale each accounted for a RBI.

Jacob Kneifl picked up the win in three innings allowing two hits while striking out four batters. Blake Bartos closed out the game allowing one hit while striking out one batter.

The Wayne Post 43 Juniors will close out RBL regular season play at Battle Creek on Friday, June 28 at 7 p.m.
