ARLINGTON – The Wayne Post 43 Junior and Senior American Legion baseball teams opened a two-game road week first traveling to Arlington Monday before competing in Albion later this week.

Post 43 visited Arlington as the Wayne Jrs suffered a 5-2 setback to now sit 2-5 on the season while the Wayne Srs won 6-2 and are now 7-0 on the year.

From the Juniors game, Brooks Kneifl paced Wayne with a two-RBI triple while Max Miller went 2-for-3 with a double.

James Dorcey suffered the loss in three and a third innings while Kneifl closed out the game.

 

In the Seniors game, Gunnar Jorgensen recorded a single, double and scored while Blake Bartos and Trevor DeBoer both doubled and scored for Wayne. Jacob Kneifl (scored), Hagan Miller, Brock Hopkins, Josh Lutt (scored) all singled as Reid Korth also scored.

Kneifl picked up the win in four and two-thirds striking out five batters while DeBoer worked the final two and a third innings striking out four batters and walking one.

The Wayne Post 43 Jrs and Srs will next visit Albion Thursday at 5:30/8 p.m.
