Wayne High Volleyball Advances To District Final, C1-12 Subdistrict Championship Being Played Tonight

WAYNE – With an opportunity to make a fourth straight district final appearance, the Wayne High volleyball team went back to work during the C1-6 Subdistrict Tournament.

From the Wayne Jr/Sr High School gymnasium, #1 WHS welcomed in #2 Battle Creek during a rematch from last year’s subdistrict final in which Battle Creek won in five sets.

Tuesday night’s championship match went back-and-forth each set but it was Wayne finishing strong for the sweep (25-23, 25-22, 25-19) improving to 24-8. Battle Creek fell to 20-10.

Lauren Pick recorded a team-high 18 kills and nine digs to go along with a solo block while Rubie Klausen finished with nine kills and 13 digs. Sydney Redden led the team in digs with 22 and two service aces, Reagan Backer had 12 digs and Kiara Krusemark tallied 28 set assists, eight digs and five kills. Madi Sievers added a kill, two digs and solo block as Emily Longe came away with a dig.

With the C1-12 Subdistrict sill having to decide their championship on Wednesday, the Class C1 district matches won’t be set until late Wednesday or early Thursday. District competition is scheduled for Saturday, October 31.

 

C1-1: #1 Syracuse swept #2 Auburn (25-14, 25-16, 25-15)

C1-2: #1 Lincoln Lutheran won in four sets over #3 Raymond Central (25-23, 25-6, 23-25, 25-13)

C1-3: #1 Omaha Roncalli won in four sets over  #2 Louisville (19-25, 25-17, 26-24, 25-19)

C1-4: #1 Wahoo swept #3 Bishop Neumann (25-23, 25-20, 26-24)

C1-5: #1 Oakland-Craig won in five sets over #2 West Point-Beemer (30-32, 25-23, 23-25, 25-19, 15-13)

C1-6: #1 Wayne swept #2 Battle Creek (25-23, 25-22, 25-19)

C1-7: #1 Columbus Lakeview won in four sets over #3 Columbus Scotus (32-30, 25-23, 23-25, 25-20)

C1-8: #1 St. Paul won in five sets over #2 Grand Island Central Catholic (17-25, 22-25, 25-18, 25-15, 15-5)

C1-9: #1 Kearney Catholic swept #2 Adams Central (25-15, 26-24, 25-19)

C1-10: #1 Broken Bow won in four sets over #3 O’Neill (21-25, 25-14, 25-18, 25-12)

C1-11: #1 Gothenburg swept #2 Hersey (25-12, 26-24, 25-23)

C1-12 (Sidney): #1 Sidney swept #4 Mitchell (25-14, 25-15, 25-18) and #2 Ogallala swept #3 Chadron (25-18, 25-20, 25-17). Sidney will face Ogallala at 6 p.m. MT for the final district spot.
