Wayne High Varsity Cross Country Results

ALBION – The high school cross country season began for Wayne High over the weekend during their first of six invites in the month of September.

From the Albion Country Club, Wayne High competed in the Boone Central/Newman Grove Invite Friday.

In the girls division, the host BC/NG topped Columbus Scotus 21-34 while Fullerton placed third with 62 points, Columbus High fourth with 73 points and Wayne High placing fifth with 90 points. Norfolk Catholic (sixth – 93), O’Neill (seventh – 108) and Nebraska Christian (eighth – 110) closed out the team scores.

The top Blue Devil runner was Laura Hasemann placing 10th in a time of 21:28.

Alexus Sindelar of Pierce crossed the finish line in first out of the 76 competitors at 19:27.

The Wayne Junior High girls and boys also fared well on the approximately 2400-meter course. Seventh grader Kyla Krusemark placed second (9:48) followed by eighth grader Raegan Mass in third (9:55). Eight grader Jesus Zavala won the boys division in a time of 8:25).


From the boys division, Columbus nearly doubled up the second place team of Pierce (24-42), Columbus Scotus took third with 56 points, Norfolk Catholic fourth with 67 points and O’Neill rounded out the top five teams with 78 points. Nebraska Christian (sixth – 89), Boone Central/Newman Grove (seventh – 116), Wayne (eighth – 133), Twin River (ninth – 181) and Fullerton (10th – 205) closed out team scoring.

Christopher Woerdemann placed 25th to lead the Blue Devil boys in 18:49.

Another Pierce runner of Mason Sindelar won the boys race out of 133 in a time of 16:12.
