Wayne High Cross Country Results From UNK Meet, Blue Devil Girls Finish Fifth In Team Standings

KEARNEY – Varsity competitors took part in the UNK High School Cross Country Invite from Wayne High School and northeast Nebraska.

From the Kearney Country Club, the Blue Devils got a preview of the state meet course on Monday.

The Wayne High girls finished fifth out of 26 Class C teams with 104 points while the Blue Devil boys placed 15th among the 36 Class C teams with 300 points.

Lincoln Christian won the girls division in Class C with 67 points, Auburn followed in second (80), Douglas County West took third (97), McCook placed fourth (100) and Wayne rounded out the top five teams with 104 points.

Senior Keelianne Green from Arlington covered the 5,000-meter course in 19:29.60 among the 182 runners.

The top WHS girls finisher was senior Laura Hasemann placing 11th in a time of 21:07.82.

Other results came from sophomore Kyla Krusemark (20th – 21:35); sophomore Jala Krusemark (26th – 22:16.70); sophomore Olivia Hanson (54th – 23:14.92); freshman Lilyan Hurner (58th – 23:29.15); junior Frantzdie Barner (66th – 23:43.52); freshman Kennasyn Blecke (94th – 25:00.26) and sophomore Yama Kantai (114th – 25:32.07).

Gothenburg won the boys division in Class C with 45 points, Fort Calhoun followed in second (66), Arlington took third (81), Lincoln Christian placed fourth (82) and Milford rounded out the top five teams with 112 points.

Senior Carson Noecker from Hartington covered the 5,000-meter course in 14:51 among the 301 runners which was nearly two minutes faster than second place (16:47).

The top WHS boys finisher was freshman Drew Miller placing 20th in 18:04.34.

Other results came from sophomore Kasen York (67th – 19:15.92); senior Easton Blecke (104th – 19:47.94); junior Mason Ley (121st – 20:01.82); senior Ethan McCraney (124th – 20:06.66); junior Adrian Klinetobe (141st – 20:23.91); freshman Boden Dobbins (234th – 22:43.66) and sophomore Zander Liston (266th – 24:01.57).

The Wayne High girls and boys cross country team will next be in action on Thursday, September 29 during the David City Aquinas Catholic Invite starting at 4:30 p.m.
