Wayne High Boys Golf Opens Busy Week With Third Place Finish In LHNE Invite

NORFOLK – 35 golfers made up the seven-team 2018 Lutheran High Northeast Boys Golf Invite Tuesday, five being varsity teams.

From the Norfolk Country Club, Norfolk Catholic won the 18-hole course shooting a 362, followed by Norfolk JV in second with a 374, Wayne High placed third with a 400 as host Lutheran High Northeast came away with a fourth place finish shooting a 408.

Norfolk Catholic JV shot a 416 to come in fifth, while Wisner-Pilger took sixth with a 432 and West Point-Beemer/Scribner-Snyder rounded out the seven teams with a 529.

Individually, Norfolk Catholic’s Jarret Cerny along with Norfolk JV teammates, John Canham and Austin Hoffman all shot an 81 to tie for first.

Jonah Brodersen shot an 88 to follow the three-way tie to place fourth and lead the Blue Devils while Peyton DeWald also placed 12th with a 98. Other Wayne scores came from Christopher Woerdemann shooting a 106, Ryan Jaixen finished with a 108 and Matt Navrkal shot a 113.

Wayne High is scheduled to compete in three-straight invites over a three-day period from Thursday, April 26 – Saturday, April 29.

On Thursday, WHS will compete in the Columbus Lakeview Invite at Quail Run starting at 9 a.m. Moving into Friday, it will be the rescheduled Boone Central/Newman Grove Invite slated for a 10 a.m. start and Saturday marks the Oakland-Craig Invite with a 9 a.m. start.
