Wayne High Basketball Teams Pick Up Road Victories

BATTLE CREEK – After both the Wayne High girls and boys basketball teams missed a week of conditioning prior to their first practices in late November, WHS began a two-game weekend with a road contest Friday night.

From Battle Creek Public Schools, the Bravettes and Braves welcomed in the Blue Devils.

The Wayne High girls secured a road victory at Battle Creek, 62-48 while the Blue Devil boys won 40-25 against the Braves.

From the girls game, Battle Creek held a 16-7 first quarter lead before Wayne High used an 18-6 second to lead 25-22 at the break. WHS then pulled away in the third quarter with a 27-7 scoring clip and Battle Creek held a 19-10 advantage in the fourth. Final again favored Wayne High 62-48.

Rubie Klausen poured in a team-high 27 points followed by Brooklyn Kruse with 16 points and six rebounds. Mikaela McManigal added nine points, Kendall Dorey scored four points while Mia Nelsen, Emily Longe and Frantzdie Barner all scored

During the boys outing, Wayne was led in scoring by Tanner Walling with 13 points while Daniel Judd poured in 10 points. Brandon Bartos also scored five points as Wayne High won the rebounding battle 35-10.
