Wayne Girls Shutout Boone Central Thanks To Season-High Bowling Team Score, Blue Devil Boys Also Win

WAYNE – Following a postponed bowling dual between Wayne High and Boone Central from last Friday, the two teams were able to get together Tuesday afternoon.

From Wildcat Lanes in Wayne, the Blue Devil girls and boys welcomed in Boone Central.

The Wayne girls would cruise through the match winning 21-0 while the Blue Devil boys were also victorious over the Cardinals, 14-7.

In girls action, Wayne made a few adjustments and pulled away in game one with a 775-514 victory. All five girls won their matches including Jamie Janke (203), Catherine Rutenbeck (160), Jersi Jensen / Lindsay Niemann (146), Riley Haschke / Joslyn Johnson (140) and Brianna Nissen (126).

Wayne would continue their hot play in game two shooting a season high team score of 897, winning 897-530. Again, all five girls won matches for Wayne including Jamie Janke (245), Brianna Nissen (206), Catherine Rutenbeck (159), Riley Haschke / Lindsay Niemann (157) and Jersi Jensen / Joslyn Johnson (130).

During boys competition, Wayne battled the Cardinals throughout game one to seal it away in the tenth frame. Clutch spare shooting and a couple of doubles sealed the team pinfall 866-794. Leading the way for Wayne and winning individual match points were James Dorcey (224), Brooks Kneifl (184), Brogan Foote (161) and Shayne Geidner (157).  Calvin Starzl (135) also contributed to game one.

Game two found the Blue Devils falling behind in pinfall as Boone Central was able to put strikes together. The two teams battled again throughout the final frames but hot bowling by the home team let the Blue Devils pull away for a 981-849 win. Winning individual matches for Wayne in game two were Calvin Starzl (226), Shayne Geidner (222), Brogan Foote (200) and Brooks Kneifl (164). Also bowling in game two was James Dorcey / Jacob Anderson (169).

In JV action, the Blue Devils were able to bowl in intra squad action. Bowling for Wayne in JV action was Chase Adams (98, 152, 105, & 81), Alex Rodriguez (157, 180, 185, & 155), Carter Hasemann (157, 135, 145, & 113), Ethan Wibben (178, 167, 154, & 127), Coby Dickes (133, 135, 122, & 129), Jamison Meyer (153, 176, 139, 145, & 144), Nina Hammer (134, 120, 95, & 119) and Madi Janke (107, 97, 108, & 97).

The Wayne High bowling teams will host Plainview on Thursday, January 20 at 4:30 p.m. with Parent’s Night to follow. Another home outing will be on Saturday, January 22 with Seward starting at noon.
