Wayne Girls Place Sixth With Three Just Outside Of Medals, Zavala Earns 12th Place Medal For Blue Devil Boys

KEARNEY – As the Wayne High girls qualified their team and an individual from the Blue Devil boys team, Class C results have gone final Friday afternoon.

From the Kearney Country Club in Kearney, the 2021 NSAA State Cross Country Championships were put on full display.

The Wayne High girls team finished sixth with 103 points.

Top finishers Blue Devil were Kyla Krusemark (18th – 21:12), Laura Hasemann (22nd – 21:26) and Jala Krusemark (26th – 21:39).

Other Blue Devil results came from Norah Armstrong (83rd – 23:46.0); Olivia Hanson (85th – 23:46.5) and Frantzdie Barner (95th – 24:11).

The Class C Girls Division was won by Sidney with 64 points, followed by Lincoln Christian with 67 points, Chadron took third with 95 points, Douglas County placed fourth with 96 points and Arlington rounded out the top five teams (101). Northeast Nebraska team finishes saw Pierce place seventh with 111 points as Bloomfield-Wausa finished 10th (134).

Keelianne Green of Arlington won the race among 118 runners in a time of 18:50.

The top 15 individuals in each class earn a medal.

Sophomore Jesus Zavala of Wayne placed 12th in a time of 17:32 in the Class C boys race.

From the Class C Boys Division, Fort Calhoun was crowned champion with 46 points, followed by Sidney with 58 points, Milford took third with 70 points, Lincoln Christian placed fourth with 111 points and Gothenburg rounded out the top five teams (119).

Northeast Nebraska results came from Battle Creek (11th – 160), Hartington (12th – 161) and Pierce (13th – 162).

Hartington’s Carson Noecker dominated the field by nearly 90 seconds in a time of 15:19. A total of 119 runners competed in the Class C boys race.

 

Class D Girls: Crofton edges Nebraska Christian (46-48); Jordyn Arens of Crofton among the 126 runners (1st – 19:11)

Norfolk Catholic: Cecilia Kann (28th – 21:53)

Pender: Kairece Morris (11th – 20:49) and Alexis Bodlak (70th – 23:35)

Wisner-Pilger (14th – 112): Alea Rasmussen (19th – 21:34); Allie Hassler (71st – 23:38); Kayla Svoboda (100th – 25:03); Skye Liermann (122nd – 27:19) and Kyla Taylor (124th – 28:01).

 

Class C girls:

Hartington: Jessica Opfer (33rd – 21:54) and Ava Noecker (67th – 22:56)

Pierce: Callie Arnold (7th – 20:32); Alexus Sindelar (13th – 20:44); Payten Simmons (50th – 22:25); Aylia Weeder (92nd – 24:05); Gina Wragge (98th – 24:24) and Katie Vogt (103rd – 24:54)

 

Class D Boys: Norfolk Catholic won over McCool Junction (20-39); Tylan Schlueter of Ainsworth won the race in a time of 16:40 among the 132 runners

Laurel-Concord-Coleridge (14th – 130): Dillon Olson (49th – 18:49); Carter Korth (78th – 19:32); Tyler Olson (97th – 19:59); Preston Rose (99th – 20:00) and Koby Detlefsen (120th – 21:16)

Norfolk Catholic: Ben Hammond (4th – 17:09); Trey Foecking (10th – 17:39); Alec Foecking (23rd – 18:07); Dalton Brunsing (25th – 18:10) and Nolan Thramer (34th – 18:22)

Ponca:  Brody Taylor (16th – 17:53)
