PIERCE – With a road triangular along with another road invitational on the schedule this week, the Wayne High girls golf team took part in weekend road competition.
From the Pierce Community Golf Course, Wayne High came away with a pair of medals and two personal best outings Saturday.
Boone Central/Newman Grove won the invite with a 379, followed by West Point-Beemer in second with a 385, Laurel-Concord-Coleridge shot a 421 to place third, Pierce finished fourth with a 430 and O’Neill rounded out the top five teams with a 433.
Other team scoring came from Thurston County (sixth – 447), Hartington Cedar Catholic (seventh – 459), Elkhorn Valley (eighth – 511), Crofton (ninth – 605) and Stanton (10th – 621). Other teams who competed were Wayne, West Host, Pierce JV and Norfolk Catholic.
Abby Brodersen shot the low-individual best from Boone Central with a 75.
Wayne High medalists came from Natalie Bentjen in sixth with a 93 and Riley Haschke with a personal best 106 in 18th. Trinity Surber also shot a PB with a 148 to finished 51st.
The Wayne High girls golf team will join Pierce during the Hartington Cedar Catholic Triangular on Thursday, September 17 at 4 p.m. and also compete in the Boone Central/Newman Grove Invite on Saturday, September 19 at 10 a.m.
