Wayne Didgets, Broncos Scores Against Logan View Teams

WAYNE/SCRIBNER – Wayne Blue and White Tri County League youth baseball teams were in action Thursday evening.

From the Summer Sports Complex in Wayne, the Blue Broncos hosted Logan View Blue and suffered a 13-10 loss falling to 2-4. The Wayne White Broncos traveled to Scribner to face Logan View Gold Thursday evening where the team won 12-6 to improve to 5-1.

From the Wayne Blue Broncos game, Logan View Blue led 1-0 after the first as Wayne Blue regained the lead with back-to-back two-run innings in the second and third. After Wayne Blue outscored Logan View Blue in the fourth, 6-2, Logan View Blue posted a six-run fifth and added four more runs in the top of the sixth to win 13-10.

Blake Smith singled twice, drove in three runs and scored while Chase Sturm and Alejandro Archundia both singled twice, drove in a run and scored. Aiden Petersen singled, drove in a run and scored; Spencer Moormeier singled and scored; Parker Zara singled and scored twice; Reece Ames accounted for a RBI and two runs scored; Cale Eischeid added a RBI and Karter Hays scored.

Hays came in for the final inning (34 pitches) and suffered the loss allowing four runs (three earned) off three hits while striking out and walking two batters each. Archundia (85 pitches) started the opening four innings allowing five earned runs off four hits while striking out seven batters and walking five. Petersen didn’t record an out in 12 pitches allowing two earned runs off one hit while walking one batter. Smith (29 pitches) pitched an inning allowing two earned runs off three hits while striking out two batter and walking one.

During the Wayne White Broncos game, Wayne led 2-1 after the first before Logan View Gold took a one-run lead with two runs in the third. Wayne White then outscored Logan View Gold, 5-3 while adding a run in the fifth and four more in the sixth to win 12-6.

Will Patefield recorded a homerun, single, double, drove in two runs and crossed the plate twice; James Birkel singled, doubled, drove in a run and scored twice while Maddox Heithold singled, tripled, drove in a run and scored twice. Jackson McMenamin singled, drove in a run and scored twice; Dylan Jensen singled and scored; Jenner Dorey accounted for a RBI as Herwin Bernal, Tate Holz and Camden Hall all scored.

Jensen (69 pitches) secured the win in three innings allowing three earned runs off three hits while striking out nine batters and walking three. Patefield (65 pitches) closed out the final three innings allowing three runs (two earned) off two hits while striking out seven batters and walking three.

In the Wayne Blue Didgets game, Wayne improved to 7-0 thanks to a 9-8 victory over Logan View Blue.

Colston Starzl recorded three singles and scored twice while Kash Haase added a triple. Easton Endicott doubled while Liam Rockhill, Carson Heiser and Tucker Raveling all singled.

Brayden Wehrer pitched three innings allowing four runs and struck out four batters. Haase worked one inning allowing four runs while striking out two batters.

 

From the Wayne White Didgets game, Wayne White won 2-1 over Logan View Gold to improve to 5-2.

Ben Patefield recorded a hit and had two RBI while Merrick Miller pit

 

Tri County League competition resumes on Monday, June 14. The Wayne Blue Didgets and Broncos will host Howells/Dodge at 6/7:45 p.m., the Wayne White Didgets will host Pierce at 6 p.m. while the Wayne White Broncos will entertain Emerson-Hubbard at 7:45 p.m.
