NORFOLK – Over the next eight games, the Wayne High boys will play six on the road including the Thursday night Mid State Conference outing with Norfolk Catholic.
From Norfolk Catholic high school, the Blue Devils visited the Knights for a boys only contest.
Wayne High took the early 10-point lead with a 24-14 first quarter before adding to their lead thanks to a 14-11 second. At the half, WHS led 38-25. The Blue Devils again outscored Norfolk Catholic 16-15 in the third and 24-17 in the fourth. Final saw Wayne win 78-57 to improve to 7-5 securing their third straight win while the Knights fell to 5-5, ending a four-game winning streak.
Shea Sweetland paced Wayne in scoring with 26 points, followed by Tanner Walling with 17 points and Tyrus Eischeid tallied 10 points. Trevor DeBoer and Cody Rogers both scored nine points as Daniel Judd and Josh Lutt each finished with two points.
Payton Burbach was the top Norfolk Catholic scorer with 10 points while Jackson Claussen tacked on eight points.
The Wayne High boys will be off until they join the girls team on Saturday, January 11 visiting Boone Central/Newman Grove. The Blue Devil girls (4-7) are set to play at Pierce (4-4) Friday evening.
