NORFOLK/LAUREL – A trio of northeast Nebraska high school basketball games will be carried on KTCH/KCTY on Thursday, January 6.
As the last remaining Class C1 boys basketball undefeated team, the Wayne High boys will be put to the test with two Mid State Conference opponents this week while the Laurel-Concord-Coleridge girls and boys will welcome in Hartington Cedar Catholic Thursday evening.

The Blue Devil boys are 10-0 on the season and are coming off a first place finish in their home holiday tournament (2021 Elkhorn Valley Bank Northeast Nebraska Shootout). WHS defeated top-10 Class C2 Hartington Cedar Catholic, 32-31. Wayne High is rated #3 in the Lincoln Journal Star and #5 in the Omaha World Herald.
For Norfolk Catholic, who sits #7 in the LJS and #8 in the OWH, the Knights have won seven straight and are 7-1. Norfolk Catholic won the Elkhorn Valley Tournament after defeating Battle Creek, 55-39.
Last year Wayne High topped Norfolk Catholic, 55-43 in Wayne.

The LCC girls placed sixth in the Wayne Tournament after falling to Pender, 64-43 on the final day. The Bears are 5-5 on the season. Hartington Cedar Catholic is 3-8 and are coming off a 55-31 road win over Osmond on Tuesday after placing fourth in the Wayne Tournament.
Last year HCC defeated LCC 40-23 in the Wayne Tournament and 53-32 in Hartington.
In the boys Class C2 contest, LCC is rated #10 in the Lincoln Journal Star and #6 in the Omaha World Herald while HCC sits fifth in both LJS/OWH.
Laurel-Concord-Coleridge is 9-1 following a fifth place finish in the Wayne Tournament. The Bears lost to three-time defending C1 state champs, Auburn (58-43) in the opening round before winning back-to-back over Homer (60-29) and Winnebago (64-59).
HCC is coming off a 54-15 road win against Osmond Tuesday and are 8-2. The Trojans also defeated Class B South Sioux City, 53-43 on Monday following a runner-up finish in the Wayne Tournament.
Last year HCC defeated LCC, 75-40 in Hartington.
