Wayne Boys Bowling Team Secures Road Victory Over Norfolk Catholic

NOROFLK – For the first time in 2022, the Wayne High boys bowling program took to the lanes for dual competition.

According to the Wayne website, the bowling dual was slated to be at Wildcat Lanes in Wayne but the boys bowling competition was held in Norfolk Thursday night.

The Wayne High boys defeated Norfolk Catholic, 18-3.

Game one found Wayne struggling a bit to find the line but continued to battle it out. Wayne slowly and steadily kept the pressure on the host team and finished game one with a 678-604 win.

Winning matches in game one came from Calvin Starzl (171), Brooks Kneifl (122), and James Dorcey/Jacob Anderson (120). Other scorers for the Blue Devils were Shayne Geidner (134) and Brogan Foote (131).

The Blue Devils then found a better groove in game two and jumped out to an early lead and won 795-646. Winning matches in game two were Calvin Starzl (229), Shayne Geidner (152), Jacob Anderson (145) and James Dorcey/Jaden Dramse (141). Another scorer for Wayne was Brogan Foote (128).

In the Baker competition the Blue Devils got out quick and held on for a 149-97 victory.

Wayne High bowling will next visit Broadway Lanes in Hartington and compete against Hartington-Newcastle in girls and boys varsity competition along with Plainview taking on HNS Saturday. The Hartington-Newcastle vs. Plainview game will start at 9 a.m. while Wayne will bowl against Hartington-Newcastle at approximately 11:30 a.m. on Saturday.
