Wayne Blue Ponies Pick Up Road Victory, White Ponies Drop Home Outing

WEST POINT/WAYNE – A pair of Wayne youth baseball pony division teams were in action to begin the month of June.

From West Point, Wayne Blue Ponies visited the West Point Bombers while Wayne White Ponies hosted Pender from the Summer Sports Complex in Wayne.

The Wayne Blue Ponies picked up a 16-5 victory over the Bombers to improve to 4-0 while the Wayne White Ponies dropped a 12-1 game to Pender falling to 2-2 in Tri County League play.

In the Blue’s game, Jaxon Chase singled twice, doubled, drove in five runs and scored once while Adrian Contreras doubled, drove in a run and scored twice.

Brodey Munter singled twice, drove in two runs and scored twice; Chase Nelson singled and scored four times; Herwin Bernal singled twice, drove in a run and scored twice; Brodrick Tiedtke singled and drove in a run; Dylan Jensen added a RBI and run scored; James Birkel accounted for two RBI as Chase Sturm and Alejandro Archundia both scored twice.

Tiedtke (83 pitches) picked up the win in three and a third allowing four runs (three earned) while striking out nine batters and walking six.  Sturm (16) pitched two-thirds of an inning allowing one run off three hits while walking one batter as Contreras (23 pitches) worked an inning striking out two batters and walking two.

Earlier results for the Wayne Blue’s: won at Bancroft/Lyons (5/18), 19-5; won at Wisner (5/22), 18-2 and won vs. Pierce (5/25), 8-2.

 

During the Wayne White contest, Zander Liston singled and drove in a run, Jenner Dorey singled and Mason Karsky scored.

Liston (76 pitches) suffered the loss in four innings allowing seven runs (four earned) off six hits while striking out seven batters and walking one. Gavin Anderson (35) worked two innings allowing one run while striking out three batters; Drew Reinhardt (21) pitched a third of an inning allowing four earned runs off three hilts while walking two batters as Karsky (12) came in for two-thirds of an inning walking one batter.

Earlier results for the Wayne White’s: lost at West Point Patriots (5/18), 11-5; won at Wakefield (5/22), 14-2 and won vs. Tekamah-Herman (5/25), 18-8.

 

The Wayne Blue Ponies will next host Logan View at 7 p.m. while Wayne White Ponies will visit Schuyler at 7 p.m. on Sunday, June 5.
