Wayne Blue Ponies Finish Runner, Wayne White Places Third During Tri County League Tournament

PIERCE – Following a rain delay postponement from Thursday into Friday evening, the Wayne Pony youth baseball teams were both in action during the Tri County League Tournament.

From Pierce, #3 Wayne Blue (13-2) suffered a 5-0 loss against #1 Pender (15-0), during the Pony Championship game while #4 Wayne White (12-3) picked up a 9-4 victory over #2 West Point Patriots (12-3) in the consolation round.

In the championship loss, Wayne Blue was led at the plate by Dylan Jensen with a single.

Herwin Bernal (43) suffered the loss in an inning and two-thirds allowing three runs (two earned) off one hit while striking out two batters and walking four. Chase Sturm (43) worked two and a third allowing an earned run off three hits while striking out two batters and walking one. Alejandro Archundia (25) came in for two innings allowing an earned run off one hit while striking out one batter.

During the consolation win, Wayne White leaders were Carter Wiese with two doubles, a RBI and two runs scored while Mason Heikes singled three times, drove in two runs and scored twice.

Parker Patefield singled, drove in a run and scored twice; Drew Reinhardt singled, drove in a run and scored; Taven Ocampo singled and scored; Austin Heiser singled; Gavin Anderson and Jenner Dorey both accounted for a RBI as Zander Liston scored.

Anderson (97) picked up the win in six innings allowing three runs (two earned) off four hits while striking out 11 batters and walking three. Heikes (18) closed out the final inning allowing an earned run off one hit while walking one batter.
