Wayne Blue Didgets, Broncos Win At Home; White Didgets, Broncos Drop Road Games

WAYNE/PENDER – Following a week off from competition, the Wayne Blue and White Didget and Bronco youth baseball teams returned to Tri County League play.

From the Summer Sports Complex, Wayne Blue welcomed in Winnebago while Wayne White visited Pender.

During the Blue Broncos game, Wayne used a walk-off run to win 2-1 and improve to 3-1 on the season.

Jackson McMenamin tripled twice, doubled and drove in a run while Colston Starzl doubled and scored.

Reece Ames singled, Spenser Moormeier accounted for a RBI as Easton Endicott scored a run.

Two pitchers saw action being Moormeier (45 pitches) worked three innings allowing one run off one hit while striking out eight batters as Easton Gamble (71) pitched four scoreless innings (no-hits) striking out nine batters and walking one.

Earlier results for the Wayne Blue Broncos: won vs. Stanton Black (5/16), 24-2; won vs. Logan View Gold (5/19), 17-2 and lost at Schuyler (5/23), 11-6.

 

In the Blue Didgets outing, Wayne picked up a 4-3 victory to improve to 4-1.

Sy Chase recorded a homerun and single; Merrick Miller added a homerun, single and two total runs scored as Treyvan Rager doubled and scored.

Brayden Wehrer singled as Dexter McIntosh accounted for a RBI.

Miller (100 pitches) secured the victory in five scoreless innings allowing two hits while striking out 12 batters and walking two. Blake Heithold (31 pitches) worked an inning allowing three earned runs off four hits while striking out six batters and walking two.

From the White Broncos contest, Wayne dropped a 7-4 decision falling to 3-2 overall.

Tate Holz doubled while Will Patefield and Adrian Petersen both singled, drove in a run and scored. Karter Hayes singled and drove in a run, Blake Smith singled and scored as Noah Magnuson scored.

Patefield (88 pitches) suffered the loss in four and two-thirds allowing seven runs (four earned) off nine hits while striking out 10 batters and walking two.

White Broncos:

During the White Didgets game, Pender won 9-0 as the White Didgets fell to 1-4 on the season.

Isaiah Zarate recorded the lone hit being a single.

A trio of pitchers were used being Dreu Jensen (81 pitches) worked two and a third innings allowing seven runs (two earned) off four hits while striking out five batters and walking six; Hudson Kramer (22 pitches) pitched two-thirds of a scoreless inning striking out two batters and walking two as Benjamin Patefield (9 pitches) came in for a third of an inning allowing two runs (one earned) off one hit.

Tournament teams for the Wayne Didgets, Broncos and Ponies will compete in the Spencer Slugfest in Spencer, Iowa on Friday and Saturday, June 3 – 4.
