Wayne Blue Didgets, Broncos Sweep Road Games

NORTH BEND – The Wayne blue baseball teams opened Thursday looking to remain among the top of their respective standings.

Both teams visited the North Bend Blacksoxs during tri-county league play.

In the didgets game, Wayne improved to 6-1 with an 8-7 victory. The game ended on a great catch from a line drive to left fielded Paxton Janke with bases loaded.

Parker Patefield recorded two singles and four RBI while Jaxon Chase added two singles and three runs scored. William Patefield tallied a single and two RBI as Chase Baldwin doubled and drove in a run.

Parker Patefield picked up the win on the mound with Chase providing the save in relief.

 

From the broncos contest, both teams tallied a pair of runs in the first inning. Wayne then poured in two more runs in the third and four in the fourth to lead 8-2. North Bend scored a run in the fifth and Wayne outscored North Bend 2-1 in the sixth to win 10-4. The Wayne blue broncos are now 5-1 on the season.

Gavin Redden posted a homerun, two singles and four RBI while Kaden Keller added a single, two doubles and three RBI for Wayne. Jase Dean singled twice, Jace Jorgensen singled and drove in a run as Caden Wiese singled.

Keller picked up the win in three and a third innings allowing two earned runs off four hits while striking out two batters and walking four. Dean worked two and two-thirds allowing two runs (one earned) off three hits while striking out five batters and walking one.

The Wayne didget and bronco tournament team will be in action this weekend during the Wayne Youth Baseball Tournament. The Wayne blue didget and bronco tri-co teams will next visit Wisner at 6/7:45 p.m. Monday.
