Wayne Blue Didgets, Broncos Fall At Pender

PENDER – The Wayne Blue youth baseball teams took their talents to the road looking to get back on the winning track.

Wayne visited Pender Monday evening.

During the didget competition, Pender won 12-1 as Wayne fell to 1-4 on the season.

Colston Starzl and Shawn Thompson both recorded a hit while Kash Haase walked and scored the lone run on a fielder’s choice.

Haase worked three innings while Easton Gamble pitched an inning striking out two batters in the loss.

 

From the bronco game, Wayne jumped ahead 2-1 in the first before Pender answered back with a 2-1 second to knot the game up at 3-3. In the third, Pender rattled off six runs and outscored Wayne 2-1 in the fourth to lead 11-4. Wayne doubled their score in the fifth but fell 11-8. The Wayne Blue Broncos are now 4-4 on the season.

Brodey Munter singled, doubled, drove in two runs and scored for the Wayne Blue Broncos while Chase Nelson singled twice, drove in a run and scored. Jaxson Kneifl drew three walks, singled, drove in a run and scored twice; Dylan Jensen and Mason Heikes both singled and scored; Drew Miller and Herwin Bernal both scored; Taven Ocampo singled and James Birkel accounted for a RBI.

Heikes opened the first two innings allowing three earned runs off two hits while striking out one batter and walking three. Munter worked a third of an inning allowing four earned runs off two hits while striking out one batter and walking two as Jace Jorgensen pitched the final two and two-thirds allowing four earned runs off four hits while striking out two batters and walking five.

The Wayne Blue Didget and Bronco baseball teams will next be in action on Thursday, July 2 taking on their opposing town team of the Wayne White Didgets and Broncos at 6 and 7:30 p.m.
