Wayne Blue Broncos Record 20 Runs On 20 Hits While Wayne White Didgets, Broncos & Blue Broncos All Suffer Losses

WEST POINT – All four youth Wayne baseball teams were in West Point taking on the Patriots and Twins Thursday evening to close out their regular season.

The Wayne White Didgets suffered an 11-2 loss falling to 3-7 on the season and the Broncos lost 15-6 to now sit 9-7 against the West Point Patriots. The Wayne Blue Didgets dropped a 6-5 decision falling to 2-8 as the Broncos won 20-5 improving to 7-5 on the season against the West Point Twins.

In the Wayne White Didget game, Jahiem Hamik went 1-for-3 while Evan Greve recorded two steals.

 

From the White Broncos game, Wayne struck early with a run in the first and outscored the Patriots 5-3 in the second to lead 6-3. The West Point team then poured in five runs in the third and seven more in the fourth to win 15-6.

Will Leseberg singled twice and drove in three runs while Austin Heiser doubled, drove in a run and scored for Wayne. Mason Karsky singled twice; drove in a run and scored; Zander Liston singled twice and scored; Drew Reinhardt singled and drove in a run; Parker Patefield singled and scored twice as Sam Etter scored.

Gavin Anderson suffered the loss in two and a third innings allowing seven runs (three earned) off five hits while striking out three batters and walking two. Brodrick Tiedtke worked two-thirds of an inning allowing four runs (three earned) off one hit while striking out one batter and walking two. Liston closed out the final two innings allowing four runs off two hits while striking out three batters and walking one.

During the Wayne Blue Didgets game, Easton Gamble worked three innings while Spencer Moormeier pitched another two innings.

 

In the Wayne Blue Broncos outing, the Twins held the early 3-1 lead after the second inning before Wayne went on a tear. The Blue Broncos scored five runs in the third, one in the fourth, outscored the West Point team 5-2 in the fifth and closed out the game with an eight-run sixth inning. Wayne won 20-5 and recorded 20 hits.

Mason Heikes singled twice, doubled, drove in two runs and scored; Brodey Munter singled three times, drove in four runs and scored three times and Adrian Contrares singled three times, drove in three runs and scored twice for Wayne.

Jace Jorgensen doubled twice, drove in three runs and scored three times; James Birkel singled twice; drove in a run and scored twice; Dylan Jensen doubled; drove in a run and scored; Drew Miller doubled and scored; Jaxson Kneifl singled, drove in a run and scored three times; Herwin Bernal singled and scored; Chase Nelson singled and scored three times as Chase Strum and Alejandro Archundia both singled.

Sturm picked up the win in three innings allowing three earned runs off two hits while striking out two batters and walking four. Nelson worked two innings allowing two earned runs off one hit while striking out one batter and walking two. Contrares closed out the final inning striking out two batters and walking one.

A league schedule will be posted once available. First round Didget games will get underway on Sunday, July 19; Broncos will start on Monday, July 20 while Pony teams will open league tournament games on Tuesday, July 21.
