Wayne Blue Advances To Championship Game, Wayne White Drops To Consolation Round In Pony Tourney

PIERCE – Both Wayne Pony youth baseball teams entered Tuesday evening one win away from a berth in the league final.

From Pierce, #3 Wayne Blue took on #2 West Point Patriots while #4 Wayne White competed against #1 Pender.

Wayne Blue (13-1) scored the go-ahead run in the top of the seventh to win 2-1 against the West Point Patriots.

Dylan Jensen singled twice and drove in a run; Brodey Munter singled twice while Chase Sturm doubled. Brodrick Tiedtke singled and drove in a run; James Birkel singled and scored; Jaxson Kneifl and Jaxon Chase both singled as Herwin Bernal scored.

Kneifl (80) picked up the complete game victory in seven innings allowing an earned run off five hits while striking out 11 batters.

Wayne White (11-3) suffered a 10-5 loss to Pender.

Zander Liston singled three times, drove in two runs and scored; Parker Patefield singled twice and scored twice while Mason Heikes doubled and drove in a run. Drew Reinhardt and Jenner Dorey both scored.

Liston (85) suffered the loss in three and a third allowing eight runs (two earned) off seven hits while striking out five batters and walking one. Blade Nelson (36) worked two and two-thirds allowing two runs while striking out one batter.

The Tri County League Pony Tournament will conclude on Thursday, July 7 back in Pierce. The consolation game will be played followed by the championship game.

#4 Wayne White will face #2 West Point Patriots at 6 p.m. followed by #3 Wayne Blue vs. #1 Pender at 8 p.m. in Pierce on Thursday.

 

After knocking out #7 Wayne Blue with an 8-7 victory last Wednesday, the 10th seeded Wayne White Broncos will take to the road on Wednesday, July 6. Wayne White is 8-4 on the season and will visit #2 Schuyler at 6:30 p.m. in the Tri County League Gold Bronco Division.
