WAYNE – American Legion baseball teams will be staying in northeast Nebraska as a handful of towns were selected to host area tournaments this summer.
According to a release from the Nebraska Legion baseball website over the weekend, nelegionbaseball.net, Hank Overin Field in Wayne will be the host of the 2020 Class B Senior Area 5 tournament.
Class B/C Junior area games will be played July 10 – 14 with state July 18 – 22 while Class B/C Senior area games will be held July 24 – 28 and state August 1 – 5.
Other Class B Senior legion hosts include Fairbury (Area 1), Plattsmouth (Area 2), West Point (Area 3), Wahoo (Area 4), Minden (Area 6) and Alliance (Area 7). This year’s Class B Senior Legion state host will be Bennington.
Class B Junior State will be hosted by Waverly with area tournaments being played in Nebraska City (Area 1), Ashland (Area 2), Roncalli (Area 3), York (Area 4), Albion (Area 5), Gothenburg (Area 6) and Chadron (Area 7).
A northeast Nebraska community hosting Class C state will be Pender for Junior state.
Class C Junior area hosts will also be Hartington (Area 1), North Bend (Area 2), Syracuse (Area 3), Beaver Crossing (Area 4), Silver Creek (Area 5), Boelus (Area 6), and Gordon (Area 7).
Class C Senior area hosts include Pierce (Area 1), Hooper (Area 2), Pleasant Dale (Area 3), Geneva (Area 4), St. Paul (Area 5), Ravenna (Area 6) and Bridgeport (Area 7).
Class A Senior American Division will be hosted by Omaha Westside as National Division by Lincoln and Class A Junior State will be held at Papillion South.
Class A Senior area tournaments: Bellevue West (Area 1), Millard West (Area 2), Papillion (Area 3), Omaha Skutt (Area 4), Lincoln (Area 5), Norfolk (Area 6) and Kearney (Area 7).
Class A Junior area tournaments: Creighton Prep (Area 1), Area 2 (TBD), Millard South (Area 3), Ralston (Area 4), Lincoln (Area 5), Fremont (Area 6) and Scottsbluff (Area 7).
Class A Jr/Sr area games will be played July 17 – 21; Class A Jr/Sr state July 25 – 29; Class A division playoff July 31 – August 1 and Class A region game August 5.
