Wayne American Legion Baseball Continues Undefeated Start

WAYNE – The Wayne Post 43 Junior and Senior American Legion baseball teams began their home schedule from Hank Overin Field in Wayne Friday evening.

In the Juniors contest, Wayne Post 43 outscored Logan View 5-3 before adding a 2-1 second inning to lead 7-4. Wayne then posted a six-run third inning and used a 2-1 fourth inning to win 15-5. The Wayne Juniors improve to 3-0 on the season.

Jacob Kneifl singled, doubled and drove in a run while Victor Kniesche doubled and accounted for two RBI. Josh Lutt and Tyrus Eischeid both singled and drove in a run, Gunnar Jorgensen singled and drove in two runs as Brock Hopkins picked up two singles and two RBI.

Kneifl picked up the win in three and two-thirds allowing five runs (one earned) off of three hits while striking out six batters and walking another five. Drew Buck worked a third of an inning.

From the Seniors game, Wayne took a 1-0 lead after the second inning before outscoring Logan View 3-1 in the third inning. Wayne added one more run in the fifth to hold on for the 5-1 win. Wayne Post 43 Seniors improved to 3-0 on the season.

Tyler Lutt paced Wayne at the plate with a double and two singles while Adam Bentjen picked up two singles and a RBI. Justin Dean tripled and drove in a run as Zane Jackson and Ryan Jaixen both singled and drove in a run.

Bentjen picked up the complete game win in seven innings allowing one run off of four hits while striking out 12 batters and walking one.
