WISNER – For the first time in 2022, the Wakefield Trojans wrestling program took to the mat for a weekend invitational.
From Wisner-Pilger Public Schools, Wakefield joined 12 wrestling teams during the Wisner-Pilger Invite on Saturday.
Wakefield finished ninth as a team with 51 points.
Summerland won the invitational with 148.5 points, just ahead of Howells-Dodge with 147 points, East Butler took third with 140.5 points, Ralston came in fourth with 110.5 points as Omaha Bryan rounded out the top five teams (109). The host Wisner-Pilger placed seventh with 63 points.
Wakefield top finishers were Gabriel Lamprecht (138) who took runner-up while Samuel Chase (113), Caleb Chase (132) both placed third.
The Wakefield wrestling program will next visit Ponca for a triangular with Madison on Thursday, January 13 at 6 p.m. before taking part in the West Holt Invite on Friday, January 14 starting at 12:15 p.m.
