Wakefield Wrestlers Split Road Triangular

PONCA – With a road invite scheduled for Friday afternoon, the Wakefield wrestling program took part in a road triangular the night prior.

From Ponca Public Schools, the Trojans joined Madison and the host Indians during a road Triangular Thursday night.

Wakefield defeated Madison, 54-18 while Ponca defeated Wakefield, 42-30 as the host Ponca topped Madison, 48-30.

During the victory over Madison, Wakefield victories were Caleb Fischer (145) over Keven Maldonado by fall (3:05); Kolton Fischer (145) over Ulises Avila by fall (1:07) and Samuel Chase (113) over Chris Estrada by fall (5:41).

From the loss to Ponca, Wakefield’s lone match win came from Franco Tapia (126) over Thomas Beavers by fall (1:37).

The Wakefield wrestling program is back in action on Friday, January 14 competing in the West Holt Invite beginning at 12:15 p.m. Teams participating are Ainsworth, Burwell, O’Neill, Summerland, Todd Co., Gregory/Burke, Tri-County Northeast, West Holt, Wakefield and West Point-Beemer

Winside wrestling at Weeping Water Invite scheduled for 3 p.m. Friday has been rescheduled to Monday, January 17 at 1 p.m.  due to weather.
