CROFTON – After hosting two of three triangular matches over the past week, the Wakefield volleyball team took to the road for a single outing in late September.
From Crofton, Wakefield visited the Warriors Thursday night.
The host Warriors won a tightly contested battle over Wakefield in straight sets (25-18, 25-21, 25-23) to improve to 11-9. The Trojans are now 13-8 and saw their seven-match win streak come to an end.
Daveigh Munter-McAfee paced Wakefield at the net with 12 kills and seven digs followed by a double-double from Alex Arenas with 10 kills and a team-high 15 digs. Aishah Valenzuela tallied 13 digs; Jordan Metzler posted a double-double with 15 set assists and 11 digs to go along with three kills; Makenna Decker added three kills and three digs; Alice Brown had two kills and four digs as Destiny Helzer finished with a kill and three digs. Olivia Donner tallied seven digs and seven assists while Katie Borg had four digs.
Service aces came from Arenas and Borg each with one.
Wakefield will next host Ponca on Tuesday, October 5.
