Wakefield Volleyball Suffers Home Sweep

WAKEFIELD – Following a busy two-day home invitational, the Wakefield volleyball team continued their jam-packed early September home schedule.

From the main gym in Wakefield, the Trojans welcomed in Class D1 Howells-Dodge Tuesday night.

Howells-Dodge jumped ahead early and swept Wakefield (25-10, 25-23, 25-12) to improve to 10-1 as the Trojans fell to 6-7.

Jordan Metzler paced Wakefield with four kills, seven digs and five set assists; Alex Arenas added three kills and 12 digs as Makenna Decker and Destiny Helzer (five digs) both finished with two kills. Alice Brown (two digs) and Daveigh Munter-McAfee (one dig) both had one kill. Aishah Valenzuela led the team in digs with 16 as Katie Borg finished with two digs.

The set assist leader was Olivia Donner with six.

Four Wakefield service aces came from Brown with two as Valenzuela and Donner both had one. Munter-McAfee and Makenna Decker (one dig) both had a block.

Wakefield will next visit Pender on Thursday, September 16 before hosting both Randolph and Walthill next Tuesday, September 21.
