WAKEFIELD – Several northeast Nebraska volleyball teams will compete in a round robin tournament in early September beginning Thursday evening.
From Wakefield Community Schools main gym and activity center, a total of 21 matches will be played on Thursday, September 10 and Saturday, September 12.
Teams of (3-4) Hartington Cedar Catholic, (3-0) Laurel-Concord-Coleridge, (3-2) Ponca, (1-3) Pierce, (8-0) Lutheran High Northeast and (5-2*) BRLD will join the (3-4) Wakefield Trojans during the Wakefield Seven-Team Round Robin Tournament. (*BRLD missing Tuesday’s match vs. Clarkson/Leigh).
Matches in the main gym on Thursday will open with Wakefield vs. HCC at 4 p.m.; followed by HCC vs. Pierce; Pierce vs. BRLD and Wakefield vs. BRLD. Activity Center competition will also start at 4 p.m. with LCC vs. Ponca; followed by Ponca vs. LHNE; LCC vs. LHNE and HCC vs. LCC.
Saturday matches in the main gym will begin at 8:30 a.m. with Wakefield vs. Pierce; Pierce vs. LHNE; HCC vs. LHNE; Pierce vs. Ponca; HCC vs. BRLD; Pierce vs. LCC and Wakefield vs. Ponca.
Activity Center Saturday games also starting at 8:30 a.m. will open with HCC vs. Ponca; Ponca vs. BRLD; LCC vs. BRLD; Wakefield vs. LCC; Wakefield vs. LHNE and LHNE vs. BRLD.
Doors open on Saturday to teams at 7:30 a.m. and to the public at 8 a.m.
Wakefield Community Schools will be limiting fan attendance to 50 percent throughout the matches. Masks will be required by fans as once the limit of 450 is reached in the main gym and 134 in the activity center, fans will be denied entrance.
