Wakefield Sweeps Madison, Prepares For Home Invite

MADISON – With the 2021 Wakefield Invitational slated for this Thursday and Saturday, the Trojans took to the road Tuesday evening competing at a Class C1 opponent.

Wakefield visited Madison and swept the Dragons (25-12, 25-5, 25-15) to improve to 4-3 while Madison fell to 0-6.

Makenna Decker and Daveigh Munter-McAfee (one solo block) both recorded seven kills while Destiny Helzer added five kills and a dig. Alex Arenas tacked on four kills and tied Aishah Valenzuela with the team-high 10 digs each, Alice Brown had three kills and a dig, Jordan Metzler paced the team in set assists with 14, tacked on a dig and a kill, Katie Borg (five digs) and Jamila Al-Khafaji both finished with a kill. Makenna Decker had one dig.

Wakefield dominated the service department with 13 aces led by Metzler who had four, Olivia Donner (six set assists/three digs) and Borg each with three as Valenzuela, Arenas and Brown all had one ace.

Wakefield will welcome in Lutheran High Northeast, Ponca, Laurel-Concord-Coleridge, Hartington Cedar Catholic, Cedar Bluffs, Pierce and BRLD during the 2021 Wakefield Invite on Thursday, September 9 and Saturday, September 11.
